Pakistan Railways and Wapda maintained their winning run in the 1st Women’s Challenge Cup Hockey Tournament posting wide margin victories against their respective rivals here on Thursday at the outer ground of the National hockey stadium. Railways , rode on a five goal spree including a hat trick by their ace striker, Hina Kanwal, overpowered Punjab 5-1 and Wapda routed Sindh 5-0 , thanks to a hat trick by Aqeela Naseem. Railways with two victories to their credit and one drawn game from a total four matches played so far are at the top of the points table with 7 points. Wapda are the second place with similar number of points , from three matches with two victories and one drawn game. Railways led the first session 4-1 with a splendid display of collective team efforts dominated by persistent penetration. Hina Kanwal hit the lime light with greater anticipation and agility and struck goals at regular intervals. She led from the front from the beginning till the final whistle and underlined her hockey talent in field goals with astute planning and skillful dribbling, slamming three goals in eight minutes to jolt a weaker Punjab team, scoring in the 20th,21st and 27th minutes.Punjab’s Marium Mansha scored the only goal of the match, four minutes before the close of the first session. Hina completed the tally from Railways and scored the only goal of the second half in the 58th minute in a mid field move.
