Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Habibur Rehman on Saturday said that there was no place for cowards in the police department.
Speaking at a farewell address in Gujranwala, the IGP said that the officials of Punjab police deserved praise for their bravery as they were ready to sacrifice their lives in the line of duty. He further said that the police force would continue to uphold a tradition of fighting crime and protecting the lives of citizens.
The IGP said that he had personally constituted a team of officials responsible for eliminating gangs of criminals involved in extortion, kidnapping for ransom, and land-grabbing.
The Gujranwala police was given the award for best performance for their “outstanding” work.
On this occasion, the IGP also paid tribute to RPO Gujranwala Muhammad Amin and his team for reducing crime by 50 percent by maintaining law and order in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, RPO Gujranwala Muhammad Amin said that the police department had entered a new era since Habibur Rehman had been appointed as the IG of the Punjab police.
He further said that the IGP’s open-door policy had given an opportunity to the people to get their complaints registered at the highest level. The policy also enabled the police to respond more effectively to these complaints, he added.
