PESHAWAR – Security forces killed 15 to 20 militants in Mohmand Agency, an official claimed on Sunday. The official said the militants were killed after security forces repulsed their attack on a checkpost in Ziarat, adding that more than 25 were also injured in the gunbattle that ensued.
The official said around 100 armed militants attacked the checkpost around midnight. “Our forces were on high alert, therefore, they succeeded in repulsing the attack,” Assistant Political Agent Maqsood Khan told Pakistan Today. Khan said the security forces in the border regions of Mohmand are on a high alert in connection with a military action against the militants there.
He said there was no loss to the security forces. However, independent sources said four security personnel were also injured in the clash.
