‘Iqbal Hussain – His Vision 2011’ opens at Unicorn Gallery

KARACHI – The Unicorn Gallery launched Iqbal Hussain’s exhibition of artworks titled ‘Iqbal Hussain – His Vision 2011’ on Saturday, a press release issued by the gallery said. Hussain has held countless exhibitions at home and abroad. He has received a number of prizes and his works have been auctioned at Sotheby’s Art Auction House in London.
His artworks have been written about by Victoria Burnett, Tim McGirk, Elizabeth S Ghauri, Jan McGirk, Nicola Saunter, Quddus Mirza and John Frederick in international publications. Moreover, documentaries on his life have been produced by international television channels in 2000, 2002 and 2003. The Unicorn Gallery, where Hussain’s art show would run until February 28, was set up in 2004 by Seemah Niaz.
Since its inception, the gallery has been promoting Pakistani art globally, exhibiting masters’ and contemporary artists’ works to the world at large, including such locations as Dubai, London, Singapore, Delhi, Toronto and Mumbai. The gallery has held numerous exhibitions, has an eclectic mix of great artists at all times, and boasts of a collection of paintings by graduates from art universities as well as the masters.
From housing modern miniature paintings to calligraphies, art books, jewelleries and sculptures, the gallery also sources artworks for leading auction houses.
