All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday said Kashmir is a trilateral issue and the participation of all stakeholders is imperative to resolve it amicably.
Addressing a press conference at a hotel, he said that there was no doubt that Pakistan wanted to resolve the issue in accordance with aspirations of Kashmiris and it had always supported the cause. He said the APHC delegation had met almost all political parties and came to know that solution of the issue was top priority of every party.
He said the APHC team had visited Pakistan after five years and results could not be achieved through one visit, adding that they wanted the process to continue until the solution of the problem. “We want the involvement of the Kashmiri leadership in the process,” he added. He said that the Pakistani leadership should ensure that governments in future involved the Kashmiris in the process of resolving the issue.
“Any issue related to emotions of people could not be suppressed by power,” he added. He congratulated Palestinians for obtaining a non-member observer status in the United Nations. He said that if the international community could come forward to resolve issues then why were there double standards on the Kashmir issue.
Mirwaiz said that Kashmir was not against the social and political stability of India. “Without justice there will be no peace in the subcontinent, Kashmir, Pakistan, India and even in Afghanistan,” he observed.
He said the Kashmir issue needed serious attention and there should be dialogue among Pakistan, Kashmir and India and the issue should be reviewed time to time for a quick solution of the problem. He said the Kashmir issue was an irritant between Pakistan and India and it was an international issue as well.
He said, “Time has proved that the presence of Indian forces in Kashmir cannot resolve the problem as there is no militarily solution of the issue and it should be resolved on humanitarian grounds.” To a question, he said one should clearly understand that in relations with India there would be no compromise on the issue. “The Pakistani leadership should define how the Kashmiris could be involved in the process,” he added.
