Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah Al-Subayyil, a former imam and khateeb at Makkah’s Masjid al-Haram, passed away on Monday night, officials said.
He was buried on Tuesday afternoon following funeral prayers at the Grand Mosque.
Sheikh Muhammad was also head of the Presidency for the Two Holy Mosques, and the Council of Senior Scholars, the Islamic Fiqh Council.
