Shahbaz gives Rs 5m to national hockey team

Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Monday gave away a cheque of Rs5 million to the national hockey team. He also announced that players of the national hockey team will be recruited in the police department and will get regular promotions.
“The Punjab government will extend all possible support for the promotion of the national sport. We want the players to pay full attention to the game without any economic burden on their shoulders,” he said. The chief minister announced that Astroturf will be laid in the Punjab University ground in Lahore and in Vehari, whereas the Astroturf in Gojra will be replaced with a new one. “The Punjab government has provided record funds for the promotion of all sports in the province and has successfully held the international sports festival,” he said.
