Sindh Chief Secretary Raja Abbas on Thursday directed officials to strengthen efforts to shift truck terminals to spacious sites to address the issue of traffic gridlock in the metropolis. The meeting was attended by Transport Provincial Secretary MB Kalhoro, Implementation Secretary Liaqat Randhawa and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Hussain Syed. Abass said the project for new truck stands and terminals must be discussed with all stakeholders. Kalhoro presented details of the proposed project, including its design and objectives to facilitate stakeholders. He said the removal of unauthorised truck stands and tankers’ terminals among the top priorities besides a foolproof security and monitoring mechanism. The proposed sites for new truck stands included Super Highway, Indus Highway and Northern by-pass.
