Art Club clinch Weightlifting C’ship

LAHORE – Art Club won the under-17 category while Muslim Health clinched the under-15 class title of the National Junior Weightlifting Championship here at the Punjab University Old Campus arena. Art Club were followed by Pak Railway Academy and Lion’s Heart, Lahore at the second and third places respectively, while Muslim Health were followed by Islamia Sport, G.Wala and Art Club.
Haroon Ahmed, Haider Ali, Mohammad Arslan Ali, Salman Aqeel Butt, Haris Javaid, Umer Farooq, Mohammad Moazzam and Ali Javaid won gold medals in their respective under-17 weight categories while in the under-15 competitions the gold winners were Talha, Ahsan Shafique, M. Zubair, Shoaib Ahmed, Shawaiz Qaisar, Zubair, and Abdullah Butt. Salman Aqeel Butt in the 69kg category lifted a total of 214 kgs, which was the best of the day.

  2. the members of this club were instrumental in winning the first ever – not yet repeated – feat of winning the 1995 SAF games weightlifting team championship from india ,held in madras,but the pakistani media did not project the news whereas the indian media highlighted it,winning over india in india is not an easy task.thanks to the people at Pakistan Today for acknowledgment.
