‘Metro Bus Service project to be completed within stipulated time’

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif while presiding over a high-level meeting to review the pace of work on the Metro Bus Service project said that the splendid welfare-oriented project of Metro Bus Service is heading towards completion and with the launching of the service the temporary inconvenience of citizens will change into permanent relief while the critics will also be silenced.
He said that the project would be a unique example of speed, transparency and standard. He said that the metro bus project would bring about a revolutionary change in the transport system.
He further said that while E-ticketing system would ensure charging of genuine fare, it would also introduce a modern transport culture in the country.
He also said that poor people have equal right over the country’s resources and by spending billions of rupees on public welfare projects, the Punjab government was upholding the tradition of providing rights to the poor masses.
Lahore Transport Company Chairman Khawaja Ahmed Hassan, Members Provincial Assembly (MPAs) Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmed, Hafiz Muhammad Nauman, Ramzan Siddique Bhatti, Planning & Development chairman, Secretary Transport, heads of development institutions and contractors were also present during the meeting.
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General (DG) Ahad Cheema and the Metro Bus Service Project Director Sibtain Fazal-e-Haleem informed the CM about the pace of work on the route of metro bus.
Addressing the meeting, the Punjab CM said that metro bus service was a public welfare project and every effort should be made for its speedy completion while every task should be completed within the timeframe at any cost. He said that no compromise would be made on the quality of the project and in case of any complaint the persons responsible would not be spared.
Expressing his dissatisfaction over the pace of work on the route of metro bus from Qadaffi Stadium to Ichara, the CM directed that the work should be accelerated and completed within the stipulated period.
He further said that Kalma Chowk was being made signal-free through construction of underpasses so that citizens would not face any inconvenience. He also said that the foundation stone of the new bridge over the River Ravi would soon be laid, adding that it would be an architectural masterpiece when completed.
Furthermore, he directed that the flow of traffic at Chungi Amar Sidhu and Azadi Chowk should be improved and the number of pedestrian bridges should be increased. He said that the contractors working on metro bus project should continue to work with commitment and should utilize all their energies for the early completion of this project.
LDA DG and metro bus service project director while informing about the pace of work on the route of metro buses informed the CM that the work was continuing on a fast pace on various sections and all possible resources were being utilized for its completion within the decided timeframe.
They also informed that the route of metro bus from Ichra to Qartaba Chowk would be completed by December 15 while the construction work of the additional bridge along Lahore Bridge would be completed by December 18. Punjab Information Technology Board Chairman while briefing the meeting on E-ticketing system said that work on the system was being carried out expeditiously.
He said that a control room would be set up for metro bus service from which the movement of buses on the entire route would be monitored. He further said that passengers would be given information about the movement of the buses through LED screens.
Later, the contractors assured the participants of the meeting that maximum resources were being utilized for early completion of the metro bus project, adding that the ongoing work would be completed on time.

  5. Lahore Bus Rapid Transit System
    No Pre-Planning & estimation…worst mega project of Pak's history!
    Very doubtful that, other than the contractors, anyone would get benefit from BRT. BRT is not going to address the problem…rather its making the traffic condition worse.
    It has become a headache for me being a Model town resident.
    From Canal bridge to General hospital there is no U-turn… Qaddafi's u-turn is no more functional..can't use Kalma chok…wtf

    • u people always non thankful to PMLN as we have seen while making moterway, u people always criticise the moter way but when that project had completed evry one in pakistan is enjoying by traveling, now u people will also become shame less when u travle on this mas bus project

  6. Metro Bus Project is merely the waste of National resources. MIAN SAHIB there are also other cities except Lahore in which punjab which need your attention regarding serious problems of sanitation , employment , etc
    Who is responsible for the loss of public property which has been accquired by your MISS PLANED metro project.
    in short it is a " DESTRUCTION — which is done on the name of contruction "

    • Brother, every project begins after its feasibility. As Shahbaz Sharif said in his interview that this project should have been first implemented in Karachi and then Lahore because Karachi has more population but unfortunately they have the government only in Punjab. Brother, I am a big PTI supporter but as an educated supporter and being a part of an educated party, I would appreciate the good whoever does it. Please do not comment negative on everything if it is not being done by the people you support. We are bothers and I am not trying to prove you wrong but all I am saying is that please support whatever good is happening in our country be it in punjab, kpk, sindh, balochistan or anywhere else and whoever does it be it pti, ppp, pmln, mqm or any other party.

  8. No doubt it is a good project to control the heavy flow of the traffice But pls instruct the relevent persons to complete it asap becuse peoples are in lot of troubles . Secondly i request to Mian Sb pls give some Cuts ( Give some space ) between the Bridge way Because the distance of the each Bridge is very very long its also creates a lot of problems for the peoples .

    • Prove it if you can or stop blaming. It is directly against the Aaya of Quran that do not blame anyone and do no spread the rumour if you have no proof.

  10. i live in south africa but i my heart always beating for my country ,i love mian brothers ,they are very telented also they know how to work ,if they get chance for five years you will see pakistan will be totaly different, you can see they make motorway , now every where is motorways , now lahore metro bus project you will see in every city of pakistan there will me same project , just need quide line or raod map once my country people ,they have ideas , just gave them time and support them ,insallah people will come in our country for jobs ,its very painful to live far from home country and far from famlies ,you just think can you live with freedom in other country as you can live own country?

THOSE BROTHER WHO SAY HE DONE ONLY FOR LAHORE PLZ VISIT GUJRANWALA PINDI MANDI FAISAL ABAD SIALKOT YOU FEEL A BIG DIFFERENCE IF U VISITED THESE CITIES 4 YEARS BEFORE . Allah give him more power and bless on him. please all Pakistani brothers realize before any type of criticisism who deliever for common man. some peoples say cm is a stunt man. so for those brothers plz compare those leaders who safely sit inside containers and also those who not like to shake hand with common peoples and proud reflect from those leaders every word. in comparison mian sb sit whole summer in tents peoples call it drama.   14. This is very Unique project of Punjab Govt specially keen interest by the Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif. We appricated the managment of this project who's more efforts towards this project and helping this to come to end with success.

  19. When Nawaz Sharif launched the M2 motorway project from lahore to Islamabad, Peoples party and Jamat Islami was the first political parties who started shouting against that project, But now u can see that was the most beneficial project for the future of pakistan.

    Metro Bus service in the same way as the Motor way project, facing so many objections, but it is also a good project and in the near future every one will say "I LOVE SHABAZ SHARIF"
