LAHORE – The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) would hold worldwide rallies today (Friday) to protest against issuance of arrest warrants of former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf. At a press conference, APML spokesman Fawad Chaudhry said that protests would be held in the US, Canada and all major Pakistani cities after Friday prayers and a public meeting would be held in Peshawar.
A Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court issued Musharraf’s arrest warrants after a challan was presented by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in former PM and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairperson Benazir Bhutto’s assassination case. Replying to a question, Fawad claimed that the former president was likely to return to Pakistan this year and take part in politics.
He termed the FIA’s action as malafied and said that Musharraf and his government had warned Benazir of life threats and conducted a fair investigation into her assassination.
