The Supreme Court on Tuesday constituted a one-man Judicial Commission to probe the Lal Masjid operation.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard a petition filed against the Lal Masjid tragedy.
The bench appointed senior judge of the Federal Shariat Court Shahzad-u-Sheikh to conduct the investigation and submit a report within 45 days.
AIG Islamabad police Tahir Aalim also presented a report on Lal Masjid operation.
Following the development, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry remarked that investigators have failed to prove either those killed during operation in 2007 were terrorists or not.
