The educational institutions working under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) are implementing the idea of painting school and college buses yellow to make these more secure and significant.
Talking to APP, the FDE spokesman Waqar Ashraf said the idea behind changing the colour of buses was to make these more significant and secure among other vehicles in term of safety regulations.
He said the Ministry for Capital Administration and Development (CAD) had given the directions for painting the school and college buses yellow.
Most of the developing and developed countries have adopted yellow as the colour of school buses, said the FDE spokesman, adding that the yellow buses were universally recognized as school and college students’ buses. Waqar further said that the FDE institutes have 136 buses in working condition and 38 buses had already been painted yellow.
For now the buses are in use due to the ongoing exams of the students and the process of painting the buses would be completed soon, he added.
He also said the colleges were using their own resources to paint the buses.
According to the experts, the yellow colour captured human attention faster than any other colour and people would almost always notice yellow objects first.
According to a study, while looking straight ahead, one could see a yellow object that was not in front of him in the corners of his eyes much sooner than any other colour.
Scientists have described this as, “Lateral peripheral vision for detecting yellows is 1.24 times greater than for red.”
Moreover, many experts have also pointed out over time that colours such as yellow or greenish-yellow were more visible to the human eye under dimmer conditions when compared to red.
Furthermore, if the weather was bad or there was fog, drivers would still be able to see yellow cars fairly well.
Most of developing and developed countries preferred yellow buses for school children as they were safe and secure.
