ISLAMABAD – Nurses in Poly clinic, Handicap hospital and Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) staged a protest demonstration on Tuesday against the termination notice issued to them and demanded regularisation of their services.
A large number of nurses gathered in front of the National Press Club (NPC) to register a protest against what they termed injustice with them by the authorities concerned. They were holding placards inscribed with their demands and chanting slogans against the government.
Speakers on the occasion said it was unjustified that most of the nurses had completed their 2-10 years services in these hospitals and now the management had decided to terminate them. They further said the majority of them belonged to the poor families and added that due to this notification most of the nurses were highly discouraged and unsure about their fate.
They appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani to address their grievances and issue the formal notification to all those nurses who were currently working on contract basis.
