The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to recover illegally grabbed land from squatter settlers in Sector I-11/1-2 by the end of December and allotting the same to genuine allotees, besides accelerating uplift work in the said sector.
The decision was made in a meeting of the civic body held at the CDA Headquarters the other day. The meeting was presided over by the CDA Member Estate Shaista Sohail and attended by representatives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), ICT, Islamabad Police and officials of other departments concerned. The meeting was informed that Sector I-11 had been opened for further projects, but due to squatter settlements in the sector, development work could not be possible. Furthermore, the area was also marring the beauty of the federal capital.
The CDA member estate Shaista said that according to the directives of the CDA Chairman Tahir Shahbaz, strict action would be taken against “kachi abadis”, while adding that slum settlements would be demolished by the end of this year. She further said that illegal possession of the civic body’s land would be ended soon in order to carry out development work in Sector I-11 and genuine allotees would be provided with plots. Following the CDA chairman’s directives, a comprehensive strategy had been formulated to vacate the CDA lands from illegal settlers, she added. The CDA member estate asked the participants of the meeting to cooperate with the civic body in its efforts to recover the grabbed land and carry out uplift work in the sector at the earliest. The participants assured full cooperation to the CDA at the conclusion of the meeting.
