The Punjab government on Thursday filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the release of GPO blast mastermind, Shahzad Ahmad. The government has stated in the petition that there were clear evidences that Shahzad was involved in the incident, therefore, the court should review the Anti-Terrorism Court’s decision.
Police had arrested the mastermind of the attack, Shahzad Ahmed and had registered a case against him under Terrorism Act.
The trial continued for four years in the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court. After the completion of all arguments by the lawyers of the parties, the court released the accused on the basis of insufficient evidence.
