Holy Family Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Fayyaz formed an inquiry committee on Tuesday to probe the rat biting incident.
Dr Fayyaz said that the committee comprising Additional MS (AMS) Dr Tariq Masood Niazi, Administration Deputy (MS) Dr Farooq Khasana, AMS Asima Ahsan and Nursing Superintendent Primrose would investigate the negligence of the attending staff. He also suspended five gynaecology ward staffers including the in charge nurse, two nurses and two sanitary workers.
The goodwill ambassador for orphan children Jahanara Manzoor Watoo visited the hospital and inquired after the health of the injured newborn baby. She announced Rs 50,000 for the baby and directed the hospital administration to provide the best medical facilities.
