Influential men in Sheikhupura on Monday gang-raped five girls, including the daughter and nieces of a poor worker. According to media reports, Muhammad Boota, a labourer, who used to till the land of local landlords Mara Jat and Zaheer Jat, settled an agreement with them under which he agreed to harvest their crop against a mutually agreed amount of money. When the job was done, Boota demanded his remuneration but the landlords, in connivance with their aides, tied Boota and his wife with ropes and unscrupulously gang-raped his 13-year-old daughter Samina, 15-year-old niece Farah, 18-year-old Saima, 13-year-old Iram, and 14-year-old Safia. The Narangmandi Police registered a case against the accused, and a court has ordered medical examination of the rape victims.
Jirga offers 3 girls as vanni in Shikarpur murder case
Grandfather of three girls passed away when jirga in Rustam ordered their vanni in a murder case. A man named Amanullah Jatoi was accused of murdering a woman in a Karo Kari case. Local landlord Abdul Wahab held a jirga in this connection and ordered handing over of three girls to the family of the murdered woman in addition to payment of Rs 200,000 as fine. The ages of the girls are between four and seven years. The grandfather of the girls expired at hearing the decision by the jirga. Police said jirga members would be arrested soon.
