Around 200 Sikh pilgrims from the UK arrived on Wednesday at the Allama Iqbal International Airport to take part in the 576th birth celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Gee to be held between November 26 and 28 at Gurdwara Janamasthan Nankana Sahib. The first Sikh pilgrim group (jatha), led by Sardar Autar Singh Sanghera, was received by the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) officials at the airport. Some 4,000 Sikh pilgrims (3000 from India and 1000 from other parts of the world) are expected to take part in the celebration this year.
The Sikh pilgrims will also visit other places to perform religious rites during their sojourn in Pakistan, including Panja Sahib (Hassan Abdal), Gurdwara Dera Sahib (Lahore), Gurdwara Rohri Sahib (Hassan Abdal) and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib (Kartar Pur).
The pilgrims would return on December 4. Talking to reporters, Sardar Autar Singh expressed the desire that Pakistan and India should settle all outstanding issues through dialogue.
He expressed his earnest regards for love and hospitality of Pakistanis during their pilgrimage over the years.
I have head that for the Indian Visitors its not safe, hence I am worried and not sure about travelling, pls if anyone can suggest what I should do. Is there any threat to the Indian travellers.

Great to see yatris coming to Pakistan to participate in the Guru Nanak Sahib's Gurpurab celebrations. But we really need a more liberal visa regime. Still hundreds if not thousands are left waiting for years for their turn to visit the Sikh holy sites in Pakistan.
