CJ chairs NJPMC meeting to discuss ECP request

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry Saturday said he has sought explanation from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) before reaching any conclusion over its request seeking help in connection with the general elections.
Presiding over a meeting of National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee, he said any institution should consider the ECP request, if the commission approaches soliciting succor.
It should be mentioned here that the NJPM meeting discussed the appeal by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to appoint judicial officers as District Returning Officers in the upcoming elections.
The judges of the Supreme Court, chief justices of all four provinces’ high courts and Federal Shariah Court’s Chief Justice Agha Rafiq Ahmed attended the meeting.
