Lahore High Court Chief Justice (CJ) Umar Ata Bandial on Thursday adjourned hearing of the petition against appointments of advisors and special assistants to the Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif till January 15. The CJ adjourned the matter on request of the petitioner’s counsel. The petition, filed by advocate Rana Mehtab Ahmad, submitted that advisors and special assistants were appointed by the CM, which served no purpose but were a burden on the national exchequer. He stated that this was a misuse of the CM’s authority as chief executive of the province and was a violation of the services’ rules and regulations. He prayed to the court to declare appointments of all the advisors and special assistants to the CM as illegal and restrain them from working till final disposal of the petition.
