Confidenti@l has learned from multiple sources that Justin Bieber has made several gallant attempts to get back Selena Gomez, his girlfriend of two years prior to last weekend’s breakup. The pint-sized pop phenom “is having second thoughts” about splitting with the gorgeous Gomez, although it’s been widely reported that the 20-year-old Gomez pulled the plug. “He has been calling and texting her,” says a source, adding, “he’s been reaching out to her friends.” After Gomez landed in New York City on Sunday and checked into the London Hotel in midtown, the boy wonder paid a visit to his brunette beauty. “He met her at her hotel so they could talk and he later asked her out to dinner,” adds the Gomez gabber. The source said Bieber wanted her to feel comfortable, so he invited friends to join them for dinner at Morandi in the West Village Sunday night. Although the Gomez insider says a reunion looks “promising” and that both sides are interested in working things out, Gomez isn’t giving in easily. After their low-profile dinner with Bieber, Gomez and a gaggle of gal-pals went to WIP — the same club where Chris Brown and Drake infamously came to blows last spring. Gomez “asked her friend to take her phone from her for the night when she got to the club,” says a second Gomez source. “She said she didn’t want to text [Bieber]. She danced and had fun and when she got her phone back at the end of the night, she rolled her eyes and showed her friends how many missed calls and texts she had from him.”
