PARIS – Marseille and Lyon both came from behind to breathe new life into their title challenges on Saturday, with OM beating Sochaux 2-1 and OL overpowering derby rivals Saint-Etienne 4-1. Andre-Pierre Gignac was the match-winner for Marseille at Sochaux, as the defending champions secured a victory that took them up to second place in the Ligue 1 table.
Brown Ideye put Sochaux ahead in the 43rd minute but Gignac equalised two minutes later, collecting a pass from Lucho Gonzalez and bending a low strike into the bottom-right corner from the edge of the penalty area. Gignac had scored just one league goal prior to the winter break but his winning goal with 20 minutes to play took his tally to four in his last four league matches.
