It has been almost three months since the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) sent a summary to the Sindh Chief Minister (CM), Syed Qaim Ali Shah for action against colleges and higher secondary schools which have produced below 30 percent results during the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) Part-II annual examination, but the controlling authority have not yet responded to the board’s summary.
The BIEK sent a summary seeking action against government colleges and higher secondary schools which had failed to produce a minimum 30 percent result on May 15, but the CM, who was the new controlling authority of educational boards, had yet to respond to the board’s summary. The BIEK had requested the CM to assign the authorities concerned to sort out reasons behind the showing of bad results and to ensure the provision of facilities in these educational institutes to enhance their performance.
Talking to Pakistan Today, the BIEK Chairman, Anwar Ahmed Zai said that the board had enlisted colleges and higher secondary schools that had produced below 30 percent results and prepared a summary for action against these educational institutes. “The board has sent a summary to CM Sindh, who is the new controlling authority of educational board, on May 15 for action but the board did not received any answer from the CM House,” he added.
“Under the mandate of BIEK, the board has to send a summary of colleges and higher secondary schools functioning under the provincial government during the annual exam to the controlling authority every year”, Anwar said, adding that, “like every year, this year the board has sent a summary to the Sindh CM, the new controlling authority of educational boards, in which BIEK seeks action against those public educational institutes which have failed to produce 30 percent results in the annual exams.”
The Sindh Colleges Director General (DG), Prof Dr Nasir Ansar when approached for comments said that he had no idea about any such summary. “I have no knowledge about the BIEK summary sent to the CM and I do not receive any directives from the education department,” he added.
