FAST IEEE Week concludes

LAHORE – Foundation for Advancement of Science and Technology (FAST) Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE-WEEK) concluded with a bang on Saturday. All team members and participants were present at the occasion and Dr SM Sajid and Dr Amjad Hussain graced the occasion as chief guests.
A large number of people from the FAST-NUCES, NUST College of EME, UET Lahore, UMT, Kinnaird College Lahore and Beaconhouse School System. The IEEE-UET chapter participated in various events throughout the week and was helpful in making the event a success. Dr Sajid said that according to convention, Pakistan lies in IEEE region 8 in the world. He said that the Women Empowerment Forum, organised by WIE-NUCES was very interesting and informative.
IEEE-NUCES President Namra Nadeem and IEEE-NUCES Vice President Yasir Siddique thanked participants and team members. Namra thanked collaborating partner societies within FAST including the NUCES Circuit Society, NUCES Media Group, The High Way Buzz and media partners of the IEEE week including Pakistan Today and Dunya TV. Winners of various competitions were presented IEEE winning awards by Dr Amjad Hussain and Dr SM Sajid. The IEEE-NUCES team was presented with shields for their participation in events throughout the week.
Safiullah Khan was presented the IEEE manager of the year award. Along with EE students, Fast business sciences students also participated in various events. The WIE-NUCES organised the Graphic Designing Competition on the sixth and last day of the IEEE week. Students were asked to portray positive images of Pakistan in their posters. Zara Mehboob Ali, WIE chairperson, took keen interest in the competition, which was judged by Abdul Basit and after a lot of close entries, the winner was announced.
Cambridge Docs organised thei-phone development workshop. Using software X-Box and MAC-OS, students were taught to develop a simple calculator by using Java as the underlying language. Harris Bin Khurram conducted the workshop, which lasted for around two hours. The Android Development workshop was organised by Cambridge Docs. It was a well-planned workshop, which helped students, who were not very familiar in using Java. The conductor instructed students to use two applications, a game and calculator and they were able to follow and develop such applications at home just after the workshop.
