Governor Punjab Sardar Latif Khosa said on Friday that the federal government is bound to abide by Supreme Court orders it issued in Asghar Ali Khan case regarding distribution of funds by military officers.
“The court has not issued any fatwa against Pakistan’s armed forces, but it is wajib (compulsory) for the government to obey Supreme Court orders as the decision is very much clear,” the governor said while speaking to media here after visiting the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal.
Khosa said that all accused in the case could be tried for treason under Army Act or Article 6 of the Constitution, subjected to a recommendation by the law ministry.
Khosa went on saying that “polluting the entire election process is violation of the Constitution and tantamount to treason.”
He said steps of the government formed after 1990 elections were unlawful and unconstitutional which needed parliament’s endorsement.
