The federal government has decided to increase the salaries of the government employees from January 2013 after revising their pay scales.
According to sources, keeping the upcoming general elections in view, the federal government has decided to implement revised pay scales from January 1, 2013 and eventually increase the salaries of the government employees prior to the interim government setup.
The sources said that the federal Finance Ministry asked the Pay and Pension Commission, headed by former Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Dr Ishrat Husain, to revise the pay scales in accordance with the budget of the current fiscal year so as to benefit the government employees without putting much burden on the national exchequer.
