Conference to laud dengue achievements on 10th

Punjab government on Wednesday announced that it will organise a two-day international conference on dengue in Lahore on November 10th and 11th to acknowledge the tireless efforts of the government departments, enthusiastic participation by the people and the civil society and close cooperation and assistance of international experts for controlling dengue menace in a short span of time.
In this connection, a high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on Health, Salman Rafique, to review the arrangements of the conference. Public representatives of the city, secretaries, special secretaries and senior officers of various government departments, including Health, Education, Information and Culture, Rescue 1122, police, and local government, as well as commissioner and DCO Lahore, also attended the meeting.
It was announced that the international experts were astonished over the historic achievement of controlling worst ever dengue epidemic in a very short span of time by the Punjab government with the active participation of general public and government departments.
Salman Rafique said that international experts are coming Lahore to admire and acknowledge the efforts Punjab Chief Minister. These experts are from Sri Lanka, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and other counties, he added.
The main function and the inaugural session of two-day conference will be held on 10th November, at Awan-e-Iqbal, in which Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will be the chief guest. The public representatives, officers and officials of various government departments, members of civil society, media and other segments of the society, who had worked for controlling dengue epidemic, have been invited to attend this function. The chief minister will distribute prizes and shields among the participants displaying outstanding performance for their encouragement.
