Pakistan has handed down dossier about presence of a Pakistani Taliban commander Mullah Fazalullah in Afghanistan to the Afghan government and International Security Assistance Force.
Foreign Office Spokesman Moazzam Ahmad Khan said at his weekly news briefing in Islamabad Thursday.
He said that during the visit of US representative of Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossman a dossier regarding presence of Mulla Fazalullah in Afghanistan was handed over and his extradition has been sought.
Strongly reacting over statements emanating from Kabul against Pakistan‚ the spokesman said Pakistan wants to promote good neighborly relations with Afghanistan on the basis of mutual respect and interest.
He said there is a need to engage in a mature and responsible dialogue to sort out all the issues. He said peace and stability in Afghanistan is in Pakistan’s interest and expressed the confidence that issues between the two neighbors will be resolved through different channels of dialogue.
He said Pakistan is committed to eliminate terrorism and bring peace in the region but it needs full cooperation from the international community.
Responding to a question regarding keeping Pakistan in dark about the Abbottabad operation, the spokesman said that Pakistan relayed its stance to the government after the Osama operation that we are fully capable of fighting terrorism within our border and no one can be allowed to violate our territory
To a question he said Durand line is a settled issue which is internationally established border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
When asked about stance of two US presidential candidates on drone strikes‚ the spokesman said these are illegal‚ counterproductive and violation of our territorial integrity.
He said their statements have nothing to do with reality and their statement was given as part of their election campaign.
He admitted that both the countries share divergent views on this issue but hoped that this can be resolved mutually. He said Pakistan has good relations with the US and wants to further deepen them.
He said that peace in the region was not possible without a stable partnership between the neighbors.
On another question concerning China-Japan border issue, he said that both China and Japan are time tested and long friends of Pakistan hoping that both the countries will sit together and diplomatically chalk out all issues in this regard.
