Senior leaders of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) reportedly advised President Asif Ali Zardari to quit his political office and the deliberations in this connection are underway at high level.
A private TV channel quoting sources on Thursday said, the senior party leaders, keeping in view the Asghar Khan case verdict and an order by Lahore High Court (LHC) to President Zardari to quit the political office, counseled him to jettison the office of co-chairmanship of the party. According to sources, the president began mulling over the advice.
The sources noted that a final decision in this regard will be made by President Zardari himself and any such decision is expected in the second week of November.
In case of his relinquishing the office, President Zardari’s sister Faryal Talpur will be a strong candidate for the office.

  1. Prelude to absolute and total acquittal and being committed to oblivion. Insha Allah.

  3. Asif ali zardari is doing a very reasonably good job under the circumstances. He is running the government and party affairs well ,I think he should contiue in both capacities.

  4. President is trying his best to fight terrorism and poverty in the country. I think the courts should not interfere too much.

    • Both fighting sitting in bunker, never visited our Army fighting in FATA / KP….unlike Bush / Obama , UK PM …is Afghanistan / Iraq not as dangerous as FATA, KP….

  5. No one is stopping the president from carrying on the good work, all that is being said is that being the head of state he cannot come out in support of any one political party, fair and free elections require a level playing field and that is not possible if the president puts all his weight behind one political party

  7. I was always against ppp since my childhood, but now I have started to realise that most of the alligations against this party are baselessand infact ppp has been a victom of conspiracies and accesses, from now on i will be supporting ppp

    • That means you are not following media on corruption and misgoverance and numerous cases in SC…The recent case is CNG price which even Ogra ( chairman appointed by PPP led govt ) has accepted in SC that weekly increase in against Ogra mandate as per Ogra ordinance, where only rate can be revised only twice a yr, secondly, CNG rate cannot be linked with Petrol price..but has been forced upon by the govt to do so….so is this ok for poor people ?

  8. President Asif Ali Zardari should leave party designation in the larger interest of country.

  9. People are once again being fooled, so can stepping down from PPP office curtail Zardari influence over the party decisions? I think as real democracies, He should have become Prime Minister and hold the PPP leadership! President should be non political!

  10. He has no alternative but to quit the office of co-chairperson. But this will be for cosmetic purposes and basically to avoid prosecution if he leaves presidency. Whatever the case may be he will continue to I meddle in political affairs of his party.

  11. He is a proper statesman ,whatever decission he takes will be in the intrest of pakistan. We salute his courage and character.

Politics aside, one has to acknowledge that Zardari kept a Pakistani civilian government alive this long — particularly in a situation where everything else is 'fail' …
