President Asif Ali Zardari has set up a four-member coordination committee for improving the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) relations with the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q). Differences had emerged between the PPP and the PML-Q for quite some time, especially after the appointment of Mian Manzoor Wattoo as the Punjab chief of the PPP. Taking notice of the possible threat to the alliance, Zardari set up the coordination committee to iron out differences. The committee includes Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira, PPP Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo, Federal Minister Nazar Gondal and Imtiaz Safdar Warraich. The committee would contact the PML-Q leadership, and would try to resolve the between the two parties.
