The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday declared fuel adjustment charges in power bills null and void, and ordered NEPRA to adjust the charged amount in future bills. According to media reports, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui heard the petitions filed against fuel price adjustment imposed by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA). Justice Shaukat said that power distribution companies (DISCOS) could not include charges from previous bills into fresh ones.
The court had issued orders to adjust collected fuel adjustment charges in the future bills. The decision applied on bills of industrial and domestic consumers. Around 700 petitioners from the CNG sector, cement industry and steel mills had approached IHC against the recovery of fuel price adjustment in electricity bills.
