ISLAMABAD: The report of the National Assembly’s (NA) Standing Committee on House and Library has been challenged in the Islamabad High Court over the scam in the NA Employees Cooperative Housing Society. Justice Riaz Ahmed on Friday heard a petition filed by former Islamabad deputy commissioner Chaudhry Asadullah Faiz.
The petitioner contended that the NA body’s report was not based on facts and corruption charges against him in the report were baseless.
He asked the court to declare the report void and bar the quarters concerned to take action against him on the basis of the said report.
The petitioner made the NA body chairman, convener of the sub committee on House and Library and the federation of Pakistan through the Establishment Division respondents in the case.
After hearing the arguments, the court issued notices to respondents seeking their reply. The judge also barred the Establishment Division from taking action against the petitioner until further orders.
The petitioner is currently working as a director in the Ministry of Environment.
The NA sub committee had recommended the suspension of Asadullah Faiz from government service and strict disciplinary action against him.
