In compliance with orders of the Supreme Court (SC), FIA decided to establish a special team to ensure recovery of principal and interest amounts distributed by ISI among politicians and other persons. Sources said on Friday that SC had issued orders to FIA to ensure return of original amounts plus mark up from politicians and other personnel who received money via the ISI during the 1990 federal elections.
FIA decided to constitute a special committee to investigate the matter. Per documents filed with the SC, a sum of Rs 5,000,000 was paid to former prime minister Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, Rs 5,000,000 to former Sindh chief minister Jam Sadiq Ali, Rs 2,500,000 to former prime minister Muhammad Khan Junejo, Rs 3,500,000 to Nawaz Sharif, Rs 1,000,000 to former federal minister Abida Hussain, Rs 2,000,000 to the late Pir of Pagara Mardan Shah, Rs 5,000,000 to Jamaat-e- Islami, Rs 10,000,000 to Mir Afzal Khan, Rs 5,600,000 to Lt Gen Rafaqat, Rs 1,500,000 to Hummayun Marri, Rs 4,000,000 to former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali, Rs 1,000,000 to Kakar, Rs 700,000 to Jam Yusuf, Rs 500,000 to Hasil Bazenjo, Rs 1,000,000 to Nadir Magsi, Rs 5,000,000 to Altaf Hussain Qureshi and Mustafa Sadiq and Rs 5,400,000 to different groups in connection with the stated elections.
