Tightening of Adiala Jail security ordered amidst terror threats

Punjab Inspector General Jails Farooq Nazeer had directed authorities concerned to further tighten the security of Central Adiala Jail, as incidents of sneaking mobile phones and other objects into prison cells were increasing.
The IG also directed Adiala Jail’s authorities to investigate and check visitors before allowing them to visit prisoners and said that if a police official was found involved in providing narcotics or other items to prisoners, strict departmental action would be taken against him.
He said this while talking to officials of Adiala Jail, in a recent visit to the prison, and inspected the security arrangements.
Additional Superintendent Jail Shabraiz Hussain, Deputy Superintendent Jail Judicial Arshad Ali Warraich, Deputy Superintendent Jail Executive Ilyas Ahmed and others were also present.
Additional superintendents, in a briefing to the IG about security and other arrangements in the jail, said that contingents of Elite Force, Punjab Police, Rangers and jail staff had been deployed for the security of the jail.
