In order to make Islamabad a model energy saving city, Secretary Cabinet Division/Water and Power, Nargis Sethi has imposed a ban on decorative lights in the federal capital. Sethi, while chairing a high-level meeting, directed Capital Development Authority (CDA) and other relevant authorities to make efforts to transform Islamabad into model energy conservation city.
She said that measures had been formulated as per directions of the president, prime minister and minister for Water and Power, to declare Islamabad as a model city for energy conservation.
Government ceremonies would be organised during the day to avoid waste of energy by unnecessary illumination inside and outside buildings, she said, adding that lights in markets should be rationalised both inside and outside the shops. A committee under supervision of the additional secretary Cabinet Division was also formed to monitor and implement directives in this connection.
