In order to control crimes in Lahore, the police by making some improvements in the crime fighting strategy on Wednesday decided to set up mobile pickets, intensify armed patrolling, and to continue search operations on permanent basis. The decision to this effect was taken during hurriedly called high-level meeting held to review the law and order situation in Lahore at Police Line Qila Gujjar Singh today. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman presided over the meeting to discuss recent wave of crimes incidents in Lahore. CCPO Aslam Tareen, DIG (Operations) Rai Muhammad Tahir, DIG (Investigations) Chaudhry Shafique and SSP (Operations) Sohail Akhtar Sukhera and all divisional SPs were also present on this occasion. The provincial police chief said that mobile pickets should be set up in Lahore apart from static police pickets so that the criminals could not be give a chance to flee after committing any crime. The police chief also directed the officers to step up patrolling all over the City and continue the practice of search operations on permanent basis. The IGP also informed the meeting that he would personally monitor the crimes situation in Lahore regularly. Addressing the meeting, the police chief said that a team of best officers has been appointed in Lahore and now it is their responsibility to come up to expectations of the masses by utilizing all available resources and by playing the role of crime fighters. The IGP warned that the officers should come out of Cold Storage to provide protection to the lives and properties of the citizens.
