At least 25 labourers were abducted from Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, police said. The police said the incident took place in Mandan Gate area of the district when armed men tempted the labourers by offering Rs 1,000 per day in wages before taking them away to North Waziristan Agency. Witnesses said some unidentified men arrived to the area on two vehicles and enticed the labourers who were waiting for work along the road.
The witnesses said the men told the labourers they would be given Rs 1,000 per day for work if they agreed to work in North Waziristan Agency. The police said a party had been sent to the tribal region to trace the missing labourers, but no clue had been found as yet. Political authorities in the Tribal Areas have also confirmed the reports of labourers’ kidnapping.
