The World Bank on Saturday agreed for additional financing of Rs 7.5 billion for the financing of computerisation of land record and a contract signing in this regard is expected during next month.
Representatives from the World Bank, during their previous mission, expressed their satisfaction over the progress and appreciated the professionalism of project staff, an official of Board of Revenue Punjab said.
The project which initially started with financing of Rs 2.773 billion from the World Bank for computerization of land records of 18 districts of Punjab has been expanded to all 36 districts.
According to a careful estimate, data of about 52 million land owners is being computerized.
25 Land Records Management and Information System (LRMIS) service centres have been established and land record of 545 villages was computerized.
The implementation of the World Bank project (LRMIS) will not only secure records, improve service delivery but also stabilize and improve the economy and land market throughout Punjab.
Progress on its implementation is continuously monitored by the government and the World Bank.
