The Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi, Friday, said that Pakistan attached great importance to relations with Denmark as both the countries had same perceptions on global and regional issues.
While talking to Ole Emil Moesby, Ambassador of Denmark, here at Parliament House he maintained that Pakistan believed in peace and stability were essential for progress and prosperity in the region.
He added that terrorism and extremism were the biggest threats to peace and stability and it can be countered by closer cooperation amongst the stakeholders. The Deputy Speaker said that terrorism and extremism can be curbed by addressing the root causes of this menace and underlined the need for enhanced regional and global support to curb this evil.
He said that present Parliament enacted record number of legislation during last 4 and half years. He said that the opposition in the incumbent Parliament had played a very constructed and positive role as most of the Bills were passed with consensus.
The Deputy Speaker apprised the Ambassador about the importance and working of the Standing Committee in National Assembly. He also underlined the need for enhanced interaction of the parliamentarians of the two countries for strengthening of bilateral relations.
The Ambassador of Denmark, Ole Emil Moesby said that Denmark values high its relations with Pakistan and wanted to further strengthening existing relations through enhance Parliamentary ties and economic corporation.
He said that his country wanted democracy and democratic institutions in Pakistan to flourish and strengthen. He also condemned the terrorist attack on Malala Yousafzai and expressed heartfelt grief over the incident. He said that Pakistan was rendering great sacrifices in the war against terrorism and its role was commendable.
