No directives yet on Swiss letter: FO

Foreign Office on Thursday said that no directives have been received from the government regarding letter to Swiss authorities on NRO Case.
Briefing newsmen in Islamabad on Thursday‚ Foreign Office spokesman Moazzam Ahmad Khan said so far we have not received any instruction with respect to letter to Swiss authorities and when we receive directives in this regard from the government we will implement it.
About the response of international community on the terror attack on Malala Yousafzai‚ he said different countries including the United States have strongly condemned this reprehensible act.
To a question‚ the spokesman denied to comment on the possible involvement of Afghan terrorists in the attack on Malala and her companions.
Foreign Office spokesman said that Pakistan desired good neighborly relations with Afghanistan on the basis of mutual respect and interest.
He said that foreign minister Hina Rabbani has also condemned the attack terming it a sheer attack to future of Pakistan.
Regarding Pakistan-India relations the spokesman said there is mutual desire of Pakistan and India to resolve all outstanding issues including Kashmir.
He said both the countries are capable enough to address their issues bilaterally. However‚ if Russia‚ the US or China are willing to play their role to address the issues between Pakistan and India‚ they are welcomed.
When asked about the unbending Indian stance on Kashmir issue‚ the spokesman said Pakistan has a clear position on the issue.
About the visit of Russian Foreign Minister to Islamabad‚ Moazzam Ahmad Khan said this remained productive as talks with him covered cooperation in diverse fields including economy and trade.
When asked about new dates for the visit of Russian President‚ he said Russian President Vladimir Putin in a letter to President Zardari had expressed his keenness to have a summit level meeting with President Zardari soon. Both the countries are working on new dates. However no date has yet been finalized.
To a question regarding Syria-Turkey tension‚ the spokesman said Pakistan has condemned the Syrian shelling into Turkey. He hoped that Syrian government will take action to avert such incidents in future.
In another question, he said COAS Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani had an historical visit to Russia and all fields of bilateral interest came under discussion.
The spokesman further said on 15-16 October, President of Pakistan Ali Asif Zardari is expected to pay an official visit to Baku to attend the event of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation.
The purpose of the visit is to strengthen relations between the two countries.
“Azerbaijan and Pakistan are working closely in the political and economic spheres and have prospects of cooperation”, he said.

  1. Everybody knew full well that the letter would be an exercise in futility. However, the big egos prevailed and gulped so much time and money once again as if all problems of Pakistan were hinged on this letter. Now the letter is sent what has been achieved except the egos? Swiss are not going to listen to Pakistani courts again and again and go against the International laws. How much time and money have been wasted instead of attending the thousands of cases rotting for decades.
