ISLAMABAD – Former president Pervez Mushrraf’s lawyer on Wednesday denied media reports that Musharraf would record his statement with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after the agency declared him an absconder in the Benazir Bhutto murder case.
Talking to Pakistan Today Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif denied Mushrraf would record his statement, saying no decision had been taken in this regard so far. According to a private TV channel, lawyers of the former president said on Wednesday that he would come up with a statement before FIA.
“At the moment, I am his only lawyer present in the country and I am not aware about any such decision,” he said. The FIA declared Musharraf as absconder in Benazir’s assassination case recently and also decided to submit an application in the court to get him declared a proclaimed offender if he failed to appear before the investigation team.
