Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has directed the Ministry of Commerce to focus its efforts in meeting the export target and diversifying the exports by exploring new markets.
He was talking to Minister for Commerce‚ Makhdoom Amin Fahim in Islamabad on Sunday.
The Minister briefed him about the 7th Edition of Expo Pakistan 2012 organized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in Karachi.
The Minister informed the Prime Minister that the response of international buyers was far better than the previous year. He said that expo is attracting significant interest from the international parties who had placed handsome orders for imports of traditional and
non-traditional goods from Pakistan.
Makhdoom Amin Fahim further said that on the invitation of the exhibitors, various delegates were visiting factories and export houses located in different parts of the country. He also apprised the Prime Minister about his meetings with high level delegation from various countries.
The Prime Minister while appreciating the efforts of Ministry of Commerce and TDAP expressed the hope that Expo Pakistan will play its role in attracting foreign buyers to significantly increase the international demand for Pakistani products and showcase the country as a reliable trade partner.
“I am confident that the country has the potential to develop into a major trading hub in the region” said the Prime Minister.
