Flour and sugar prices up in Sindh

Flour prices all across Sindh has gradually increased by more than Rs 3 per kg since June, while sugar price has also witnessed increase in the market adding to the woes of the consumers.
Sindh Flour Mills Association said that one 100 kg bag wheat price has peaked at Rs 3,000, resulting into the increase of 50 kg bag of flour price to Rs 1,660 from Rs 1,620. On the other hand, food department sources said it has been decided to sell government wheat to the flour mills against their the quota at Rs 2,850 per bag of 100 kg for which the challan are being issued to the mill owners from October 3 and with the increased supplies from government reserves, stability in wheat price could be seen.
Experts said the government fixed wheat price as compared to previous year rose by about Rs 350 per 100 kilogram due to increase in the wheat purchase support price by the federal government in previous season.
Besides, notwithstanding availability of sugar from current season, the ex-mill price of sugar in Sindh was seen hiked by Rs 3 in three days, resulting in the sugar wholesale price going beyond Rs 50 per kg.
