While the government has failed to stop US drone attacks on Pakistani territory, a senior provincial minister has called Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) proposed march to Waziristan in this connection “a drama”.
Talking to reporters here on Thursday, provincial minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour, who belongs to the Awami National Party (ANP), said: “The PTI’s peace march to Waziristan is not more than a drama which is being carried out ‘someone else’s’ instruction.”
However, the minister said the provincial government would not create any hurdle in PTI’s peace march to South Waziristan Agency (SWA). “The provincial government is a democratic government, which believes in democratic practices, and it will not resist the PTI’s rally,” he said.
The PTI has announced to hold its “peace march” on October 7 towards SWA against US drone strikes, which are a violation of Pakistan’s territorial integrity and have killed scores of innocent civilians, including women and children. According to the PTI, the objective of its peace march is to highlight the issue in international media and show the ground reality in SWA and the destruction caused by drones. PTI’s former provincial spokesman Zahid Hussain rejected Bilour’s statement, saying “they cannot succeed in their unholy efforts to make the march unsuccessful with such allegations”. “The PTI will go to Waziristan at any cost and those thinking to stop the march or make it a failure due to such allegations are living in fool’s paradise,” he added. The PTI has garnered the support of international civil society activists for the march, and its convoy is expected to kick off towards South Waziristan on October 7 at 7am.

  1. Bilour to term the PTI march as " drama" is bitchy.Simply because you did not get this bright idea ,you have to somehow put others down for their efforts in saving lives.Bilour life as such life is, it is a drama-we come and play our parts – good bad or ugly, than we have to hand over the stage to others(in fairness) to play their parts for people to judge. There is absolutely no need to be sarcastic nor jealous if others perform better than you and you should shake their hands if you are a gentleman-which i presume you are or you can prove me wrong!
