The Supreme Court directed authorities on Monday to arrest former Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) chairman Tauqir Sadiq and start proceedings against him, a private television channel said.
The case, related to OGRA malpractices, was heard by a three- member bench of the court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
Officials from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) told the bench that the bureau had checked up on all possible addresses to locate the Sadiq and he was currently in Lahore and not in the United States.
The officials further alleged that Punjab Police was providing protection to Sadiq, who is said to be a close relative of PPP’s Secretary General Senator Jahangir Badar.
Chief Justice ruled that regardless of what address Sadiq may be at, the former Ogra chief must be arrested.
Those who are issued arrest warrants – are well protected by Rehman malik and his ministry with an immediate effect. so state VIP protection is mandatory for convicted of SC
