Driver of governor’s convoy sent on judicial remand

DASKA – Sambrial Special Judicial Magistrate Shehzad Qaisar has sent the accused driver, Khizar Hayyat, to Sialkot District Jail on a 14-day judicial remand for killing a Sambrial-based old woman Sughra Bibi on Saturday evening when the official convoy of Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa was returning to Lahore from Sialkot.
Sambrial police seized the official vehicle and arrested its accused driver, Khizar Hayyat. The police registered a case against the driver under Section 322/PPC.
SPORTS TRADE FAIR TO END TODAY: Today is the last day of the world’s largest Sports Trade Fair ISPO-2011 in Munich. Sialkot exhibitors have set up their stalls in the world’s largest sports trade fair. Sialkot exhibitors are manufacturers of sports goods – the world’s known city for its quality products of sports goods.
Sialkot is the only city in the world that has been meeting over 40 % of the world market demand for hand-stitched soccer balls and Munich holds the world’s largest exhibition of sports goods. As many as 130 exhibitors from Pakistan have set up their stalls. Over 2,000 exhibitors of indoor and outdoor sports from different countries of the world have put their products on display ranging from sports goods, sports wears, and sports gears and exercising equipment at the fair.
HEAVY RAIN BRINGS JOY TO PEOPLE: The widespread heavy rain on Monday, followed by the heavy windstorm, lashed out at the Sialkot region and brought joys to the common man, in general, and farmers, in particular. The rain started early on Monday morning and inundated all the low-lying areas which paralysed the normal life, besides, forcing the people to come out on the roads and the streets to enjoy.
Farmers welcomed the rain, offered thanks-giving prayers and termed it very useful for the wheat crops in Sialkot region. The officials concerned of Sialkot Met office have forecast more widespread rains in the Sialkot region during the next 24 hours.
