The electricity shortfall in the country reached 3,793 MegaWatts (MW) on Monday as the mercury climbed after spells of rainfall. The total power generated in the country stood at 12,213 MW whereas the total demand of electricity was estimated to be16, 000 MW. Different urban centers were taken off grid for 12 hours whereas many rural areas had no electricity for up to 16 hours.
