The Kohsar police claims to have busted a gang of thieves involved in committing a burglary at the residence of the Ambassador of Tunisia in sector F-6.
Police said that the arrested accused were allegedly involved in taking away Rs 9,00,000, a gold watch, two laptops and gold ornaments from the house of the ambassador.
The Kohsar police said that on August 10, 2012, the Tunisia ambassador lodged a complaint regarding the theft and subsequently they registered a First Information Report (FIR) under section 380/457 PPC against unknown burglars.
Moreover, Dr. Habib-ur-Rehman, who had been residing adjacent to the house of the ambassador also lodged a theft complaint with the Kohsar Police Station on September 18 and reported that some unidentified burglars took away precious valuables from his house.
According to police, these two back to back robberies prompted SSP Yaseen Farooq to take serious notice of the theft cases in the posh sector of the federal capital. He assigned the task to SP (City) Muhammad Ilyas to trace out the thieves and recover the stolen items from them. Afterwards, the SP brought together a special team to trace the robbers.
The team succeeded in busting a gang of four thieves besides recovering stolen valuables including Rs. 9, 00,000, a gold watch worth Rs. 7, 00,000, two lap tops and gold ornaments from their possession. The nabbed accused had been taken in for further investigation.
