Sports Board, Guinness sign partnership for Youth Festival

The Punjab government and Guinness World Record official on Thursday signed an agreement after which the GWR has become the official partner of the Punjab Youth Festival while Rana Mashhood formally launched the helpline for the guidance of youth of the province.
The signing ceremony and the launching of the helpline took place in a simple but impressive ceremony at the Punjab Stadium. Raymond Marhsall, regional head of the Guinness World, and Director General Sports Board Punjab Usman Anwar signed the agreement in the presence of SPB Chairman Mian Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, PYF chief organizer Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Secretary Sports Punjab Haroon Ahmed Khan at a colourful ceremony at Punjab stadium which was filled up by around 20,000 youngsters .
Speaking on the occasion, Hamza termed it a historic moment in the history of Punjab. “We will go a long way with this agreement. It will help in sending soft image of the country in the world. The Punjab government will do everything possible for the development of the youth and show them direction for their progress and for the purpose it has launched this helpline and is holding the record breaking Punjab Youth Festival,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Raymond Marshall termed it a historic moment in history of Pakistan sports that GWR has become officials partner of Youth Festival to record their world record efforts. The GWR after signing the agreement has become the official partner of the Punjab Youth Festival and their team of officials and cameramen will return to Pakistan in October to cover the entire Festival proceedings. They will then broadcast the world records creating festival and other GWRs created during the course of festival.
Officially, there are more than 100 applications for the world record attempt but attempts would be launched in 25 fields and SBP believe 15 of them would surely be created.
On the other hand, country’s first ever Youth Helpline became functional to create a sense of direction among the youth helping them to become more effective in society building. Rana Mashhood said that with this helpline, the youth will be able to discuss their multiple problems and to find their solution with the help of seven experts whose services have been acquired to extend guideline in different fields of life.
The helpline will give the youth career counseling, education counseling, sense of direction and most importantly to work on their capacity building, he added.
There would be around seven to eight experts sitting at the helpline to facilitate the calling youth. They would identify their problem and resolve it.
He said the helpline will work seven days a week from 10 am to 8 pm and experts will be readily available on a toll free hotline to listen the problems of the youth and to come up with a counseling solution.
